Taylor and I are super excited to announce that we are moving to Sydney, Australia TODAY! This picture of us basically sums up our feelings right now: ecstatic, anxious, surprised, and feeling a little crazy!

When we left home four short months ago we had no idea what the future would hold. We envisioned living and traveling abroad for 3-6 months, but now it looks like we will be gone a little longer than expected. We are incredibly excited for this next step in our adventure, and will continue to keep you up-to-date along the way!

Before moving any further, let me take a few steps back to fill you in on why we are moving to Sydney and how we will spend our time there:

1.     We need money!

The last four months of our lives have been absolutely amazing. Taking “the leap” has been completely worth it, but our current lifestyle is obviously unsustainable. Taylor and I purchased and applied for Working Holiday Visas in Australia, and have been granted the ability to work there for up to one year, staying with one company for up to six months.

One of Taylor’s previous co-workers at Apple transferred to Sydney with her boyfriend about eight months ago, and made the mistake of offering him a job and place to stay. We decided to take her up on that offer (thank you Jenna and Geoff!), and Taylor will hopefully begin working at Sydney’s Flagship store the beginning of February.

I plan to work over there as well, but for me the transition isn’t quite as easy. I’ve applied to a few places already and sent numerous emails, but need to be over there to put a face to my name in order to solidify anything. I hope to make my work over there as meaningful as possible. I will try to get something within the greater health community, but realize I may need to initially take something less glamorous in order to get settled.

With that said, if you have any connections in Sydney, Australia please let me know!

2.     It’s winter here, and summer there!

There are so many things we would still like to see and do in Europe (the list is endless), but it’s winter over here and therefor more difficult and less enjoyable to get around. Since we have a limited amount of money in our budget, and we enjoy spending most of our time outside, it doesn’t make sense for us to be here any longer this time of year without work.

3.     We’re ready for a change in pace, scenery, and challenge!

As fun as the past four months have been, we intuitively feel it is time to move on. We are really thankful for the opportunity we have had living with Sam and Haley, but know that it’s time to let them live their lives again without us. We’re also looking forward to working! I know that might sound a bit odd, but we’ve been reminded how important meaningful work is in our lives, and are excited to see what’s in store for us on this next leg of our journey. We look forward to the new experience and challenge of living in a different country, with different roommates, and finding jobs (in the sun and by the beach…).

4.     We’re not ready to go home yet!

The big question: “When are you guys going home?” The same response: “When we feel it’s time.”

As much as we miss our family, friends, jobs, lifestyle, and culture, it’s just not time to go home yet. We continually check back in with God and ourselves to see if we are headed down the right path, and so far the silent voice has told us to keep going.

In this lifestyle it’s almost impossible to plan in advance, so we honestly have no idea how long we will be in Australia. We are trying to go into this next experience with open minds and as little expectations as possible. Depending on how the move goes we could be there for a few months, or logistically up to a year. If we had to guess, we’d say we will be there for 4-6 months. This would allow us enough time to refill our bank account to travel a bit more before making the journey home.

5.     This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

We’ve taken the leap of faith and we don’t want to cut ourselves short. We know that we will never have the opportunity to do something quite like this again in our lives, and we want to take full advantage of the freedom we’ve created for ourselves. We realize that we are making sacrifices by being away, but we also trust that this adventure is growing and shaping us in many ways. We believe that it is widening our worldview, expanding our beliefs, and deepening our love for each other and the gift of life. We’re never promised tomorrow, and believe that true happiness comes from quality relationships, experiences, and pursuing our dreams and purpose. Who knows if we will ever get another opportunity to go to the other side of the world ever again with the health and flexibility we have now!

As you read this we are making our way over there right now. We have an 11-hour flight from London to Shanghai (with a 4-hour layover), and another 11-hour flight into Sydney. We welcome all of the positive thoughts and prayers we can get as we travel, and will let you know once we’ve made it safely over our Instagram account @liveyourgreatestlife.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for following and supporting us along our journey. We’ll see you on the other side!

Sarah + Taylor
